Setting the scene

Sustainable Diss 2030 Chapter 2 Setting the scene

Download the booklet (1 Mbyte) and its cover, including map, here.
This section, from pages 6 – 10 of the booklet, gives an overview of a sustainable Diss in 2030, under the headings:

  • Historic town centre
  • Diss Sustainability Park
  • Diss Eco-industrial estate

It explains how the transition to sustainability came about, not through enlightenment but through necessity. It explains how a renewed sense of community enabled people to live reasonable lives with much less energy use and much less money.

The ‘setting the scene’ section starts to sketch out sustainable living in a future Diss, which is much less consumerist (lots of used and second hand goods), much more social and cultural, and much more sound environmentally.

What do you think about this? Would you like to live like that? Please vote in the polls, and add your comments, positive or negative.
