Memories of the Pirate Post

The days of the 1971 postal strike and the local pirate post are recalled by Diss Museum’s latest acquisition.
Mayor Graham Minshull brought in a last day cover that a local woman was offering for £20.
The pirate post was run by Hugh Bardwell from his house at 3 Church Street from January to March 1971. Museum manager Basil Abbott said, “This is a quirky piece of local history that is worth conserving.”

I’ve just been going through and old draw and found a small pile of envelopes with Stamps that appear to have been issued as part of the Diss pirate post. How incredibly British!
